Behind the stellar pitching of JP Pasterino the Dukes displayed their all-around baseball skills in soundly defeating the Old Timers 11-0 on Sunday April 29th. 13 Duke players’ contributed to the victory, which demonstrates the depth and strength of the team, keeping pressure on The Old Timers every inning. This was a complete team victory for the Dukes with 7 different players having at least two hits, 9 players scoring runs, 7 with RBI’s and 6 with SB’s. The Old Timers managed 7 base runners but strong fielding by the Dukes behind JP kept the Old Timers off the score sheet.
The Dukes scored in every inning except the 3rd before finally breaking it open with 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th culminating with Adolfo Yanes’s 2 out single to bring home JP with the 10th run and victory. The Old Timers kept it close with timely pitching and defense with men on base to limit the Dukes until the breakout in the 7th inning.
The Dukes racked up 18 hits in the game. JP Pasterino, Luna McCann-Matsusaka, Nick Ferrier, Adolfo Yanes, Dave Wrigley, Tom Smith and Toky Antonini each had multiple hits for Dukes to lead the onslaught.
